One coin sold on 20 April 2018 by Bertolami Fine Arts, Auction 44, lot 517, link to the sale: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=4942249, formerly sold on 11 November 2015 by Bertolami Fine Arts, Auction 19, lot 804.

Mark CONOB.

Variant with slightly degenerated legend on the obverse and reverse. The word ''degen'' in the reference denotes the degenerate legend. The weight is low for this example having suffered very little wear, unlike the AYC #21 degen corr, RIC 323 and AYC #22 degen, RIC 324. It is an official coin which shows the composition of the mint at this period with barbarian engravers. We can note another coin with different dies, showing a similar reverse legend and an obverse legend including the letters ODO of THEODOSIVS with the same round shape resembling OOO. The coin can possibly be classified as type B because the shield is a little smaller and rounder but not enough for me to decide to create a single line for type B. The coin is therefore closer to type A. Sold on 20 November 2016 by Numismatik Naumann, Auction 48, lot 671, link to the sale: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3483221.

Type I: with mark CONOB or COMOB (CONOB here) and the reverse legend usually ending before the shield. No punctuation on legend either side. A square throne, the right leg as a triangular protuberance, stiff drapery and vertical scepter. This corresponds to type III of RIC X. Var A is the same as RIC X: elongated and long shield.
