Constantinople seated left on a throne, holding a spear with the left hand and a globe surmounted by a cross with the right hand. A shield behind the throne and a star in the field to the left.

This currency corresponds to the RIC X 321 but which gives variant A while the coin illustrating this RIC is of type B with the small round shield and with the legend ending after the shield (The source given for the RIC X 321 is for a type B coin (the one classified AYC #23, RIC 321) while the coin illustrated is type A). In addition, the coin illustrating this RIC X 321 is a coin other than the given source. Note also that the coin illustrated corresponds to group I of the RIC and not to group III where it is classified.

Type I: with mark CONOB or COMOB (COMOB here) and the reverse legend usually ending before the shield. No punctuation on legend on either side. A square throne, the right leg as a triangular protuberance, stiff drapery and vertical scepter. This corresponds to type III of RIC X. Var B is the same as RIC X: smaller and rounder shield.
