Although this copy illustrated here proves the existence of this variant with this officina. It seems very likely that RIC X categorized this officina as medium busts by mistake. A coin sharing the same obverse die has been sold the 09/10/2015 by Nomos AG, Auction 11, lot 243, link to the sale: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=2666218.

Variant with jewel on the diadem.

This series is characterized by a medium bust size. This one is quite difficult to differentiate from the small bust. We will limit ourselves to observing the height at which the head rises and that the bust slightly exceeds the legend at the bottom, unlike the small bust which stops a little before. As for Zeno, we notice a finer portrait on the first years (397 / 402), while the portraits of the following series will become wider and Theodosius II will look more to the right even if mixtures exist from 402.
