IMP XXXXII COS XVII P P (type I, B) (441 / 450) atelier Comitatus

Buste de Théodose II de face, cuirassé, portant un casque avec crête et un diadème de perles. Tenant une lance passant derrière sa tête avec la main droite et un bouclier décoré d'un cavalier terrassant un ennemi, avec la main gauche. 

Constantinople assise à gauche sur un trône, tenant une lance avec la main gauche et un globe surmonté d'une croix avec la main droite. Un bouclier derrière le trône et une étoile dans le champ à gauche.

Variant with modified letter M of COMOB, probably an old die with the CONOB mark. The letter M of the word IMP on this copy may also be corrected.

Type I: with mark CONOB and the reverse legend usually ending before the shield with a square throne, the right leg as a triangular protuberance, stiff drapery and vertical scepter. This corresponds to type III of RIC X. Var B is the same as RIC X: shield smaller and round.
