''ov Max I'' in the reference: AYC #6 ov Max I, means that this coin is overstruck on a denarius of Maximinus I Thrax. ''ov'' for overstruck. The RIC 5B note the legends: IMP C P ... (III COSI) VS AVG and the reverse: LIBERALITA (ERM). Estimating in note that the coin is overstruck on a coin of Maximinus I Thrax. III COS is in my opinion a probable reverse being: PM TR P COS II P P. The first bar ''I'' being a end of the standard crossing the legend and ''I'' after COS being the rest of the letter P. On the reverse ''ERM'' being GERM. VHere is what the original coin probably looks like (RIC 4):

For the description of the reverse, the RIC 5B noted: ''purse? '' Instead of the pileus. I still noted the pileus while mentioning the doubt about the presence of a purse. In any case, the quality of representation coupled with a overstriking leaves a very thin border between the representation of a pileus and that of a purse. Both having the same shape.
