'''ov?'' in the reference: AYC #8 ov?, means that this coin is overstruck on a coin undetermined emperor. ''ov'' for overstruck. Only the letter V of the old legend remains on the reverse, we also see a remainder of the letter G? or another letter before this letter V. These two letters are visible around the letter S of ORIENS.
This coin shares the same obverse die as the AYC #3, RIC - (type CONCORDIA AVGG) and a Caracalla coin with the reverse IOVI CONSERVATORI (described VIC O or VICO by several books, it is in my opinion a break of legend IOVI C - ONSERVATORI). The coin is preserved at the Kunsthistorische museum de Vienne, INV. NR. Münzkabinett, RÖ 20745, lien vers la monnaie: https://www.khm.at/objektdb/detail/1035155/. This coin is the AYC #5 ov Car, RIC 4.
I assign the RIC numbers according to the marked legends. For example, RIC 7 is given for an overstrike of a Caracalla denarius. I have classified coins under this number 6 because they use the same legends for Regalianus, even though they are overstruck from other emperors. The RIC 6 is also existing for two different types: LIBERLAS AVGG and ORIENS AVGG, this is a number assignment error. The ORIENS AVGG type should be n°7.
I classify under this same number other coins of which we can not determine the emperor present on the original coin and the reverse used:
The first coin has been sold the 26/11/1930 by Adoplh E. Cahn in his Katalog 68, it is the lot 679.
