''ov empress'' in the reference: AYC #8 ov empress, means that this coin is overstruck on a coin of an indeterminate empress. ''ov'' for overstruck. I analyzed this coin and the bust is feminine. The shape of the drape is characteristic of the busts of the empresses before the 4th century. The shape of the face also indicates that it is an empress. No other remains of the old coin are visible. Recall that coins from Julia Mamaea and Julia Soemias were overstruck for this emperor. See AYC #2 ov Ju. Mam, RIC 2 and AYC #8 ov Ju. Soe, RIC 6.

I assign the RIC numbers according to the marked legends. For example, RIC 7 is given for an overstrike of a Caracalla denarius. I have classified coins under this number 6 because they use the same legends for Regalianus, even though they are overstruck from other emperors. The RIC 6 is also existing for two different types: LIBERLAS AVGG and ORIENS AVGG, this is a number assignment error. The ORIENS AVGG type should be n°7.
