''ov Sev (1)'' in the reference: AYC #9 ov Sev (1), means that this coin is overstruck on a denarius of Septimius Severus. ''ov'' for overstruck. As mentioned by the auction house, this coin is overstruck on a denarius of Septimius Severus with the reverse VICT PARTHICAE. Here is a photo showing what the original coin looked like (RIC 142 Septimius Severus):

This same type has been overstruck for Dryantilla, see AYC #5 ov Sev, RIC 2. And for Regalianus with reverse ORIENS AVGG, see AYC #8 ov Sev (1), RIC 6.

I assign the RIC numbers according to the marked legends. For example, RIC 7 is given for an overstrike of a Caracalla denarius. I have classified coins under this number 6 because they use the same legends for Regalianus, even though they are overstruck from other emperors. The RIC 6 is also existing for two different types: LIBERLAS AVGG and ORIENS AVGG, this is a number assignment error. The PROVIDENTIA AVGG type should be n°9.
