Bust of Leo I facing, cuirassed, wearing a helmet with crest and a pearl diadem. Holding a spear passing behind his head with the right hand and a decorated shield with a horseman slaying an enemy, with the left hand.

SALVS REI - PVBLICAE

Leo II on the left and Zeno on his right, both seated on throne. A latin cross placed between their two heads. A star placed Between REI and PVBLICAE.

The RIC X page 298 note for the n°803 a copy sold by Münzen und Medaillen, catalogue 52, 19 and 20 June 1975, lot 815. The coin has been sold the 12 january 2009, in Stack's, catalog Moneta Imperii Romani Byzantini, lot 3038. The author writes that the sale noted an obverse legend without ET with AG. The copy sold 10/04/2014 by Heritage Auctions, Auction 3032, lot 23785 is given by the auction house as being the copy quoted by the RIC X. Looking at the photos, it actually seems to be the same copy taken from a different angle (the photo from Heritage Auctions is slightly inclined). Here is the coin:

  I note that all the specimens that I have been able to see have all the same dies. I also point out another copy having undergone a double strike. Here is the coin:

On the obverse I noted ''Bust of Leo I'' because it is obvious that it is not a portrait of Leo II who is a child.
