Formerly: Gorny & Mosch Giessener Münzhandlung, 6 march 2017 Auction 244, lot 619. From the collection of a Munich doctor, acquired between the 1960s and late 1990s.

Variant with step under the feet of Leo II.

I noted four obverse and two different reverse dies for this officina (including the variant with step which have only one reverse die and of which I have listed only one copy). I saw the coin quoted in the RIC X, n°803, officina H, source: Tafel XXXVII n°2071. The variant is without step.

On the obverse I noted ''Bust of Leo I'' because it is obvious that it is not a portrait of Leo II who is a child.
