S ZNOBIA AVG

Bust of Zenobia to the right, draped and set on a crescent, wearing stephane.

IVNO REGINA

Juno standing left holding patera with right hand and patera with left. At her feet a peacock with head right. A star in left of field.

Picture of type

The head of the peacock seems, after examination, always turned to the right. A copy seen with the head on the left but whose strange style makes me place it in the category of modern fake.

Variation of legend break on the reverse, which I chose to note as R - EGINA. It could also be noted R - E - GINA, but the space between the E and the G is too small to conclude a clean cut. Especially since the scepter does not cross this space. Same comment for the peacock's head as on type AYC # 1.

Variant with G instead of S on the reverse. Noted G because the form resembles this letter. Probably a S degenerate because the coin is of an unusual style and could be an imitation. Its low weight of only 2.32 grs also directs me to this choice.

A copy seen, very worn, cant confirm E or on the reverse. At the location of the star, there is a raised shape, but it is most likely a deposit or an effect caused by the holes on the surface. The RIC mentioned a starless variant that most people today consider to be a mistake.
