Denarius, type 2, var 4
CARo? _ LVS (inscribed in two lines with the letter o filled or replaced by a globule, one globule on each side of the letter S).
LUG _ DUN (inscribed in two lines, one globule under the letter G, one globule between the letter L and the letter D; another between the letter L and the letter U. Three globules aligned vertically under the letter U of DUN).
Photo of the copy preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (public domain), link to the page of their website showing the photo of the coin: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b104133098.r=charlemagne%20denier?rk=2703876;0.
I noted the obverse legend as CARo? because it may be that the letter o is a globule .. in this case we read CAR _ LVS ... impossible to know with certainty. The globule in front of the letter S on the obverse is probably present but deleted.
