HLVDOVVICVS IMP (circular legend around a cross surrounded by a circle made up of dots, a cross between the letter P and the letter H).

VEN _ ECIAS (inscribed in two lines, a cross to the left of the letter V, one globule between VEN and ECIAS).

Photo of the copy preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (public domain), link to the page of their website showing the photo of the coin: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10413724c.r=louis%20le%20pieux?rk=5085862;0.

Some copies sold by different auction houses.

As on other coins with the variant "without globule on the reverse", the letter M on the obverse is badly inscribed on some copies. We see two bars ''I'', the last of which is linked to the letter P by the form ''v'' supposed to represent the middle of the letter M.
