HLVDOVVICVS MI (circular legend around a cross surrounded by a circle made up of dots, a cross between the letter P and the letter H).

NAMN _ ETVM (written in two lines with the letters N and A linked, one globule between NAMN et ETVM).

Photo of the copy preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (public domain), link to the page of their website showing the photo of the coin: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b104133437.r=louis%20le%20pieux?rk=1051507;2.

Variant with MI on the obverse instead of IMP. A similar coin is illustrated in the work of Patrick Nouchy: ''Les Rois Carolingiens de Francie Occidentale'' de Pépin Le Bref à Louis V (751 - 987) page 96. The illustration clearly shows MI at the end of the legend while the description notes IMP. It is probably the same coin as that of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
