"40 FRANCS" entouré d'une couronne composée de deux branches d'olivier nouées par un ruban dont le noeud est double. En dessous le millésime avec à sa gauche différent (coq) et à sa droite lettre d'atelier (A, Paris).

Portrait tête nue de Napoléon Bonaparte à gauche. En dessous, la signature du graveur Tiolier.

The variant with and without inner olive (see photo here without olive) was discovered by Arnaud Brunel and published in the numismatic bulletin n ° 90 page 7. The author of this website also referenced a new variant on several olives in the 5 Francs, 1 Francs and 1/2 Francs engraved by TIOLIER.
